Emergency Management

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) provides auxiliary police officers, which supplement regular police officers and provides traffic and crowd control at emergency scenes, as well as scheduled sporting and other events.  This invaluable volunteer force donates hundreds of hours to enhance the safety and security of the residents of Emerson and those who travel through the borough.  Members receive their basic auxiliary police training at the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute in Mahwah.  Applications to join the auxiliary police are available at police headquarters.

In addition, Emergency Management provides, maintains, and periodically updates the borough's Emergency Operations Plan as required by the state.  It maintains a generator, which powers the Emergency Operations Center at the borough hall during power outages.  This office also provides assistance to the public and parochial schools in formulating their emergency plans.
