Tree Maintenance & Planting
Since its creation in 2001, the Commission has been committed to the maintenance of damaged and diseased trees, either by pruning them or, in severe cases where there is a hazard to people or property, by removing them. This is one of the unpleasant, but unavoidable responsibilities of a shade tree commission. To help make up for the loss of those trees, the Commission has instituted a Borough-wide tree planting program to enhance the appearance of our public lands and rights-of-way and to keep them shaded.
If you are interested in having a tree planted on the Borough's right-of-way in front of your property, please contact the Commission via the Borough Hall, 1 Municipal Place, Emerson, NJ 07630. A member of the Commission will contact you to provide further details about the program, including the species and cultivars of trees available.
